We all know what noodles are; those long, thin strips that take no time to be cooked. It Is a fast food that does not need plenty of preparation or time. Just unwrap it, put it in hot water, add the seasoning and any vegetable you feel like- onion, tomato, carrot, etc- and voila! You’re good to go.

Well, you’re in luck. All you need to do is have raw noodles by your side, along with some boiling water, and in three to six minutes, your food is served.

I know of a friend who ordered Apetamine, which is medicine that is supposed to make you gain weight by simply quadrupling your appetite for food and making you drowsy only so you’d sleep excessively, but has been steadfastly taking the prescribed dosage and absolutely adhering to instruction, but was still yet to gain weight. Then, she read somewhere about how noodles could make you add weight and so she started eating noodles and fried eggs thrice a week. In no time, she added a lot of weight.

Now here’s how it worked; Noodles are processed food, and as it is with all processed food, there is a high content of saturated fat packed into a single wrap or packet. So by eating noodles, you’re accumulating all that stored fat into your body.

Why You Should Stop Eating Instant Noodles


As already slightly mentioned, the consistent eating of noodles can cause weigh gain, or in some extreme cases, obesity. This is as a result of the processing of the noodles. In this process, Vitamin B, which provides the body with just about enough calories needed to work, is broken down completely, hence the carbohydrate and fat produced would be too much.

Lacking Nutrients

Eating noodles just like that, constantly, would lead to the lacking of nutrients by the body. And when the body is malnourished, it starts experiencing side effects like dizziness, restlessness and fatigue or loss of strength.

The maintaining and the enhancing of the brain’s physiological function is brought about by nutrients such as protein, calcium, sugar, Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Vitamin E and Group B Vitamin. And noodles either have extremely low content of these nutrients in them or they don’t have it at all. This then brings about slow brain development and low thinking capacity.

Noodles generally contain a large amount of sodium, and research has shown that high sodium intake may have negative effect/s on people that are considered salt sensitive. By repeatedly eating noodles, they are increasing their level of sodium intake, and this may lead to increase in blood pressure.

Fast Ageing Process

Noodles contain fat, and in the fat is contained antioxidant. Antioxidants here basically slows down oxidation, and accumulating a large amount of these antioxidants, by eating one too many packs of noodles, adversely affect the endocrine system and this promotes the ageing process.

Monosodium Glutamate is used to enhance the flavour of instant noodles. People who are allergic to MSG consume it as part of their diet, then they end up suffering from headaches, facial flushing, pain, burning sensations.


Eating Noodles is the leading cause of obesity. Noodles contains fat and large amounts of sodium, which causes water retention in the body and surely it leads to overweight, and obesity leads to heart problems.


Instant noodles are bad for digestive system. Regular consumption of instant noodles causes irregular bowl movements and bloating.

Propylene Glycol

The ingredient in the instant noodles called “Propylene Glycol” which has a anti-freeze property. This ingredient is used because it prevents the noodles from drying by retaining moisture. It weakens the immune system of our body. It is easily absorbed by the body and it accumulates in the kidneys, heart and liver.
It causes abnormalities and damage to those areas.


Regular consumption of instant noodles affect the body’s metabolism, because of the chemical substances like additives, colouring and preservatives inside the noodles.



The reasons why you shouldn’t eat noodles, or at the very least, have too much, have been stated above and it is advisable that you stop eating noodles. If you cannot do without it, at least cut down on the amount you eat and have supplements that will make up for the nutrients which your body needs.
